Dominick and Angela Wheeler are excited to announce the launch of Emerald Contracting, a business that combines their unique skills and passions. As a newly married couple, they quickly realized their talents could be put to use in bringing others’ construction visions to life, feeling God’s calling to serve their community in this way.
Dominick has a background in carpentry and a degree in audio engineering. He previously co-owned 117 Studios Milwaukee, where he produced music with his older brother, Anthony. Dominick and Anthony also co-owned Mend Brothers, a smaller-scale carpentry-focused company, which they closed in 2021 when Anthony decided to pursue a nursing career. Despite moving on from that venture, Dominick’s passion for carpentry never wavered, and when he met Angela, her strong administrative skills proved to be the perfect complement to his craftsmanship, allowing them to build a successful business together.
Angela’s journey to creating Emerald Contracting is one shaped by resilience, faith, and a deep commitment to family and community. In 2022, she tragically lost her brother Cruz, whose birthstone, the emerald, inspired the name of their business. During this difficult time, Angela’s youngest brother, Javie, became a source of immense support, helping her stay focused on her purpose and guiding her through personal growth and accomplishment.
Angela’s life took an unexpected turn when she returned from a life-changing trip to Africa in January 2024. She had traveled with Dominick’s brother, Anthony, on a medical mission trip through the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Upon returning, Angela learned that her ride arrangements had fallen through, and she almost found herself stranded in Chicago. However, Anthony’s family offered to give her a ride home, and the driver was none other than her now-husband, Dominick! Sharing the same core values and a mutual drive to follow God’s will, it didn’t take long before the two became inseparable.
Angela’s diverse experiences—from assisting in hospitals in Africa to her administrative work as a legal assistant for the well-renowned law firm Karp & Iancu, and serving as Administrative Director of Friendship Circle Wisconsin—have driven her desire to serve and support her community.
Together, Angela and Dominick combined their skills and passions to create Emerald Contracting, a company rooted in faith, family, and purpose. They aim to honor the memory of Angela’s late brother Cruz while serving their community and following God’s calling through every project they take on.
